MEMORIZATION
Research Contract
Memorizing music is an essential part of a music career. For auditions and competitions, I have had to memorize pieces. This can be an intimidating task, but I believe that knowing more about memory and the process of memorization lessens the fear and uncertainty of it. I decided to do a research project on this topic to help myself and others better understand memory and memorization.

TORU TAKEMITSU'S TOWARD THE SEA
Research Contract
Toward the Sea is a beautiful, complex piece with an immense level of detail and imagery put into its creation. To further my understanding of this piece and the composer, I decided to do a research project on this topic.

PERFORMANCE RELATED INJURIES AND BODY MAPPING
Research Project
Injuries are unfortunately very common in the music world. I have suffered from tendonitis, and it was a very frustrating experience. I'm lucky to have a professor with a certificate in body mapping, a field of study that focuses on preventing injury and increasing bodily awareness. I decided to do a research project on performance related injuries and body mapping. Hopefully this research will help to inform others and prevent further music-related injuries.
